Scituate Lighthouse Shines Again!

The Town of Scituate, MA, officially relit their historic lighthouse on National Lighthouse Day - August 7, 2024! The lighthouse, originally built in 1811, underwent a few changes over the past year to make the structure more durable to withstand the seacoast’s elements. Inner columns of concrete were poured to structurally support the lighthouse, while some outer bricks were fixed or added to the light. The old lantern room suffered erosion and breaks, so it was removed and an exact replica was made to replace it. After all this work, The Historical Society of Scituate welcomed townspeople to watch the lighthouse shine again!
